What is VoIP?

Voice over internet protocol (VoIP) is technology that enables you to communicate over an IP network. VoIP works very different to standard telephony and what we are accustomed to today. Conventional telephony relies on circuit switching; the creation of a set path, i.e. Circuit between the caller and the receiver, a dedicated path. VoIP sends voice data via packet switching over an IP network, reducing costs and simplifying network architecture and operational management.

When looking at VoIP technology the main reasons for migration is changing from cost savings to improved business efficiency, better functionality and operational simplification.
